The e-Comm Minute™

As Mobile technology became ubiquitous, user friendly and accessible to all levels of the economic spectrum, the onsite CX began diminishing at a steady pace, giving way to a faster, more relaxed and convenient way for consumers to interact with institutions and brands.  Not just due to Covid19, but before this crisis, it became the daily and acceptable way to interact with each other.   And consumers keep gravitating towards e-Commerce due to its ease of use and convenience.

For brands, the message is clear, to keep growing they must now live and seamlessly engage, with their customers in both realities, the physical and virtual.

Meanwhile, the Internet of Things (IoT), has advanced significantly too. This growth, and appreciation for its value is shown by the fast speed of adoption of smart speakers like Alexa or Google Home in the US, where households own over 157 million units, which suggests many users have more than one (1).  These Smart speakers provide value as they are progressively networking into other smart systems.

The combined used of Mobile technology, IoT and Artificial Intelligence analytics, compound the benefits for Brands and Consumers as predictive behavior and insights result in a more personalized and user-friendly experience.

This is a big deal for e-commerce!

  • A report by OC&C Strategy Consultants predicts that voice shopping spending will grow to over, $40 Billion USD by 2022.
    • By 2025, 65% of the consuming public expects to be using smart assistants in their daily lives to engage with sources of products, services, or information.
    • By 2030, 8 out of every 10 consumers expect to be leveraging smart assistants in their lives and in how they engage with brands, organizations, and governments.

Shilp Agarwal, CEO and Co-founder of Blutag Inc., a SAS that helps Create your store’s voice assistant without coding, said to us, ‘In today’s highly competitive, it is more important than ever to meet your customers where they are. With around 100 million adults expected to use smart speakers this year, voice has become an important piece for omnichannel retail to stay connected with their customer.”

And these smart systems are not limited to the home or handheld electronics.  As we have seen with Augmented Reality, they are now too, a fixed feature in automobiles, changing the way consumers engage with brands at home, or on the move.

We encourage you to explore and develop your Voice Selling strategy. Meanwhile, I will sit, relax and say, “Alexa, get me a beer please!”.
